Gidgegannup Small Farm Field Day
The Gidgegannup Small Farm Field Day is a vibrant annual event that celebrates and promotes the rural industry in the Perth Hills. Bringing together farmers, producers, and the local community, the day offers a rich program of engaging and educational talks and demonstrations. This year’s theme, “Paddock to Plate,” highlights the journey of food from farm to table, showcasing sustainable practices, local produce, and the people behind it all.
Families are at the heart of the event, with a wide range of free, hands-on activities designed especially for young people. Kids can explore the Bendigo Bank Discovery Trail, enjoy live shows, try potting plants, learn how to make worm farms, and get creative with free craft activities. There’s also free face painting, a Punch and Judy show, performances by the Wadumbah Dancers and Mad Tatters Morris Dancers, and plenty of friendly animals to meet, touch, and learn about—making it a fun, interactive, and educational experience for all ages.
Adding to the excitement, the event features the Honey Festival and the Alpaca Expo, offering unique opportunities to learn more about these fascinating industries. The WA Mounted Games will run throughout the day in the arena, providing fast-paced, action-packed entertainment for visitors. The Slow Food movement will also be part of the event, creating delicious dishes from locally sourced produce and hosting inspiring talks on how families can embrace a slower, more mindful approach to food.
There will be a wide variety of stalls to explore, ranging from tractors and farming equipment to local wine and gin makers. With plenty of delicious food and entertainment on offer, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Visitors can also learn how to create food-friendly gardens and discover new ways to cook and enjoy fresh, locally grown produce.
We look forward to seeing you there.
